We love North Florida Muay Thai at Lane’s Fitness. We believe that true fitness programming involves many body systems, but also the body must be able to be efficient in different planes of movement. This holds true for a 15-year-old or an 85-year-old. It is also very applicable for those who are “thin” and/or are overweight. An example of this would be accomplishing body rotation in kicks and punches within Martial Arts. This is the true sign of an injury-free powerful human.
Muay Thai as a Martial Art which can be defined as a codified system and tradition of combat practices. We teach Khanomtom Muay Thai with traditional values, which will result in:
• fit mind and body
• flexibility, power, rotation, strength, stamina
• competition preparation
• self-defense ability
• preservation of a nation’s culture
At North Florida Muay Thai, we focus on traditional form, technique, and respect. This respect has been ingrained in us through our teachers over the past 10 years.
In general, Muay Thai or “Thai boxing” is considered the sport of Thailand. It uses stand-up striking along with various clinching (standing arm and head lock) techniques. This physical and mental preparation includes striking known as “the art of eight limbs” because it is characterized by the combined use of fists, elbows, knees, shins. The art has global respect for the practitioners’ physical preparation. Muay Thai has become widespread in the MMA world and the popular UFC. Most of these fighters use Muay Thai as their preferred “stand up” method.
The Khanomtom Muay Thai System in the United States was founded by Ray Cole (Khru Ray Khanomtom) who has extensive fight experience worldwide and in Thailand. This system of ring fighting is known as a femur or IQ style of Muay Thai. One also might refer to it as a smart, evasive or strategy style as compared to some of the more clinch/grappling styles, or head-to-head styles that attempt to win by attrition.
Khanomtom North Florida Muay Thai is an offspring of Khanomtom Jacksonville Muay Thai and Khanomtom Tampa Muay Thai.
